I am a professional big mountain skier who uses Crossfit to prepare and maintain strength throughout my winter season. I raced at s ski academy (Crested Butte Academy) throughout high school, where we focused on plyometrics, intervals, and basic lifts to prepare for the season. After I left racing, I missed the focus and organization of a coach and struggled to maintain a regimen in the gym. In 2008, I attended the Stone Clinic, a women's sports conference, where Kelly Starr introduced the participants to Crossfit. I was instantly hooked. I followed the WODs on the main site for the first four months, before returning to Salt Lake City and joining SLC Crossfit.
Since 2008, I have continuously made strength gains and increased my work capacity. I have been able to to effectively prepare for skiing, long-distance trail running, and mountain-bike races. Plus, I'm wicked competitive, so the WODs are fun!
